Here is what Marlin Thompson has to say about his purpose for writing this book:
Would you like
to see...
... the United
States budget balanced in one year?
... the $15
trillion debt gone in 10 years?
... the Internal
Revenue Service abolished?
... a simple
FairTax that would allow you to keep your entire paycheck with no
deductions?
... a healthcare
system based on free enterprise, not government
bureaucracy?
... a free market
based Social Security program that would let you control your own assets and
leave an estate for your heirs?
... empowerment
and entrepreneurship instead of entitlement and
dependency?
... the United
States respected again as the beacon of hope for the
world?
... half of all
non-violent inmates released from prison?
... an education
system with competition through the use of vouchers so parents determine where
their children go to school?
On February 5, 2008, I authored an online
post “Benevolent Dictators Make Good Government”. Examples of benevolent dictators are King David –
Israel – (1010 BC –970 B.C.) in ancient times and General Douglas McArthur –
Japan – (1945 –1952) in modern times. I started musing about what I would do if I were absolute dictator of the United States for one year to fast track our country back to a position of primacy and prosperity.
The United States has outlasted, by 35 years, the world’s great civilization’s average of 200 years, but we are now on the road to bondage.
This book details brief, concise, easy-to-understand ideas for restoring America to economic and military prominence. If these tenants were implemented, there would be full employment, and the United States would again be the symbol of hope for the world.
No politician on the horizon has the guts to propose these concepts. They’re just whistling past the graveyard, but if we don’t do something radical, we are doomed. We are becoming increasingly addicted to government, and politicians are the dealers of the drug named “dependency”.
The book is designed to make politicians and average citizens think about what could be possible.
With many important issues facing the U.S., the book covers the following:

Marlin's biography:
Marlin Thompson was born on a farm near Brocket, North Dakota on October 1, 1934. He graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from the University of North Dakota in 1957. He was an editor for two years on The Dakota Engineer, an in-school magazine.
After graduation, he worked for Bendix Missile Division, in Mishawaka, Indiana. He worked nine years on the Talos and Typhon anti-aircraft missile programs for the U.S. Navy. He was the co-author of BxM-5000, a book on missile workmanship. During this time, he was active in Republican politics, working on the Barry Goldwater campaign in 1964. Marlin is an ultra-conservative constitutionalist.
He joined M-D Pneumatics in Springfield, Missouri as a project manager designing and building lobe pumps for the wastewater and meat packing market. He wrote articles published in several national design magazines, including a fluid viscosity cross-reference chart that has become a standard for industry.
Marlin holds 6 patents on pumps, electric motors, pneumatic cylinders, and material handling equipment. He is now a semi-retired owner of small company designing and building custom automation machinery. During this time, he authored a booklet on Engineering Documentation Systems, with an emphasis on an organized system for information retrieval.
Marlin has submitted about 300 Letters to the Editor from a conservative perspective to local newspapers in Springfield, MO, and Roanoke, VA, for 35 years (with most published). Also, since 2006, he has submitted about 90 articles, on topics of current cultural and political interest, to an international website - PA Pundits International - that were all published.
Marlin has written seven Christian articles on major scriptural subjects such as The Pre-incarnate Christ, Life After Life, The Origin of Evil, and God's Chosen People.
He is presently working on a book about the history of Norwegian immigrant homesteaders in North Dakota and growing up to see the last of the old West before 1949, when the area he lived in got electricity, roads, and running water. He also continues to submit articles regularly to PA Pundits about topics of current cultural and political interest from a conservative perspective.
